Here are a few of the programs Capital District Fly Fishers is involved with.Casting For RecoveryThe mission of Casting for Recovery is to provide fly-fishing retreats specifically tailored for women who have or have had breast cancer. We seek to enhance the lives of breast cancer survivors by providing retreats designed to promote and support mental and physical healing. We are committed to socioeconomic, religious and cultural diversity. Casting For Recovery Web Site Take a Vet Fishing ProgramThe CDFF has been involved with this program for a number of years. This program bonds the sport of fishing with a disabled veteran. Our members volunteer their time to spend an afternoon taking a disabled veteran fishing. ConservationThe CDFF has been and continues to support many conservation programs. We strife towards keeping our environment safe and enjoyable. The CDFF just recently had a handicap access ramp installed on the north side of the Mohawk River in Saratoga County off of route 9 under the Crescent bridge. We are working towards installing fishing line receptacles at many favorite fishing locations. Some of our programs include stream side clean up, stream restoration, and fish stocking.
